- He who dwells in the hiding place of the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty shall rest.
- I will say of the Lord: He is my God, my refuge, my strength, and I will trust in him.
- For he will deliver you from the snare of the birdman, and from the pernicious pestilence.
- He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will trust thee; its truth will be your shield and buckler.
- You will not be afraid of terror by night or of the arrow that flies by day.
- Neither of the plague that walks in the dark, nor of the slaughter that lays waste at midday.
- A thousand will fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come to you.
- Only with your eyes will you behold, and you will see the reward of the wicked.
- For you, O Lord, are my refuge. In the Most High you made your dwelling.
- No harm will befall you, nor will any plague come to your tent.
- For his angels he will command over you, to guard you in all your ways.
- They will support you in their hands, so that you do not stumble with your foot on stone.
- Thou shalt tread the lion and the snake; thou shalt tread the son of the lion and the serpent at his feet.
- Because he so dearly loved me, I too will deliver him; I will put you in high retreat, because you have known my name.
- He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in anguish; I will take it away from it, and glorify it.
- I will satisfy you with long days, and I will show you my salvation.
He who dwells in the hiding place of the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty will rest. (Psalm 91:1)
God wants to provide security, for his children and also for all who place themselves under his will and omnipresent protection, that is, God’s protection is everywhere.
This protection is available to those who desire to seek God and dwell in his presence constantly. Dwelling in the hiding place of the Most High means that the closer we come to God and in his word, making Him our life and dwelling, he will grant us peace and deliverance as we face the moments of danger that surround us so much.
I will say of the Lord: He is my God, my refuge, my strength, and I will trust in him. (Psalm 91:2) The psalmist is so intimate and feels God so present that he declares in his words, teaching us that God draws near and becomes intimate with those who Trust in Him.
For he will deliver you from the snare of the birdman, and from the pernicious pestilence. (Psalm 91:3) God has the power to free us from all the snares of this world. And demonstrate your full care in protecting us from all deadly diseases.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will trust thee; its truth will be your shield and buckler. (Psalm 91:4) Here we can observe that God’s care for us is so great that he shelters us with him, teaching us that his faithfulness to us is armor and also protection.
You will not be afraid of terror by night or of the arrow that flies by day. Neither of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the slaughter that lays waste at midday. (Psalm 91:5,6) When we become intimate with God, this intimacy is so strong that we are not afraid of any of the evil acts that happen all the time.
A thousand will fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come to you. Only with your eyes will you behold, and you will see the reward of the wicked. For you, O Lord, are my refuge. In the Most High you made your dwelling. No harm will befall you, nor will any plague come to your tent. For his angels he will command over you, to guard you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:7-11)
The psalmist describes the Christian’s security in God, making us understand that even though many will even die to ours around, we will never be hit. He also calls our attention so that we can see how the wicked are punished. And it assures us that when we take refuge in the Lord, making Him our shelter, no harm and no plague will come near our house.
Because the Lord, God Himself, dispenses His angels to protect us wherever we go.
They will support you in their hands, so that you do not stumble with your foot on stone. Thou shalt tread the lion and the snake; thou shalt tread the son of the lion and the serpent at his feet. Because he so dearly loved me, I too will deliver him; I will put you in high retreat, because you have known my name. (Psalm 91:12-14)
The Lord gives deliverance to everyone who loves him and also from his divine protection, to everyone who trusts in the power of his name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in anguish; I will take it away from it, and glorify it. I will satisfy you with long days, and I will show you my salvation. (Psalm 91:15,16)
Every time we cry out to the Lord, He will promptly answer us, and He promises to be with us at all times, including times of difficulty, for God Himself promises to rescue and honor us in the midst of our adversities.
God’s care is so great for those who love him that he grants long life and rewards those who are faithful, meaning salvation.
May we take this word of faith to those who have not yet met God.
