The Call to Accept Jesus
What a joy to know that you desire to accept Jesus as your only and sufficient Savior! It is through Christ Jesus alone that we will attain eternal life in heaven. Accepting Jesus as your Savior is a transformative step, rooted in the Holy Bible, guiding us to a new life as children of God.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. (John 1:12, KJV)
Accepting Jesus Christ as your only and sufficient Savior means moving from being a mere creation to becoming a child of God. This choice leads us to abandon the darkness of our past and walk in the light of Christ, who illuminates our thoughts and comforts us in difficult times.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12, KJV)
Jesus promises that all who follow Him will always walk in the light, guided by His loving presence.
The Desire to Know Jesus
The desire to accept Jesus often begins in the heart, sparked by a word, a message, or an invitation to attend a church. This longing grows into a deep passion to live with the Lord Jesus daily.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20, KJV)
Jesus never forces His way into our hearts. He gently knocks, waiting for us to freely choose to open the door and invite Him in. This decision is an act of love and faith, made willingly.
The Promise of Salvation
The promise of salvation is not limited to the one who accepts Jesus but extends to their entire household.
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31, KJV)
This promise is beautiful, as accepting Jesus moves us to intercede for our family, praying that they too may experience the same transformation we have.
The Forgiveness of Sins
No matter what sins you have committed or the mistakes you have made, what matters is that when you open your heart to Jesus, the Holy Spirit will dwell in your life.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9, KJV)
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:21, KJV)
When we confess that we are sinners and surrender our sins to Jesus, He forgives us and purifies us, offering a new opportunity to live in His grace.
A Prayer to Accept Jesus
I invite you to speak the following words with faith and sincerity:
Lord Jesus Christ, I come before Your most holy presence, acknowledging that You are King, Lord, and owner of all. I ask for Your forgiveness and mercy for my sins. Write my name in Your book, the book of life, and never allow it to be erased. Make Your home in my heart, for I surrender my life to You. All that I am and have is Yours. Amen!
Next Steps: Living for God
After this prayer, the essential next step is to find a local evangelical church where you can begin to worship God, learn more about His Word, and grow in faith. Accepting Jesus is one of the greatest choices you can make, as it means forsaking the fleeting pleasures of this world and living for God.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20, KJV)
May God pour out the blessings of the highest heavens upon your life and your family! May His grace and power shine upon your journey, guiding you every step of the way.
