The Biblical Story of Daniel in the Lions’ Den
There was a man named Daniel who was very special. He loved and served God all the days of his life. Daniel was a righteous and courageous man, and many people admired him for his wisdom.
Daniel worked for the king of Babylon, who was a powerful man. However, some jealous men didn’t like Daniel, because he was better than them at everything he did. They got jealous and decided to make an evil plan to get rid of Daniel.
These men went to the king and convinced him to make a new law. The law said that for thirty days no one could pray to any god except the king. They knew that Daniel was a man of prayer and believed that this way they could arrest him.
Daniel knew about the new law, but that didn’t stop him from praying to God. Every day, three times a day, he would kneel in his house and pray to God, as he always did. He loved and trusted God and was not afraid of consequences.
The envious men caught Daniel praying and went to tell the king. The king was sad because he was very fond of Daniel, but he could not change the law. He had to keep his own word and ordered Daniel to be thrown into the lions’ den.
When Daniel was thrown into the pit, the king said: “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” The king was concerned about Daniel, as he knew that he was a faithful man of God.
During the night, the king could not sleep. He was worried about Daniel and hoped that God would protect him. The next morning, the king ran to the lions’ den and called for Daniel. To his surprise and delight, Daniel replied, “O king, my God sent an angel and shut the lions’ mouths. They didn’t hurt me!”
The king was amazed and ordered Daniel to be taken out of the pit. The envious men, who wanted to get rid of Daniel, were thrown into the lions’ den instead. They did not have the same protection from God and were devoured by lions.
Daniel was saved because he trusted God and never stopped praying, even in the midst of difficulties. This story teaches us that, like Daniel, we can trust God in all situations. He is always by our side, protecting and guiding us.
