John 3:16 – Why does God love me?

Why does God love me so much? We are sometimes taken with questions like this, and we want to know more about God and his infinite love.

When we talk about God’s love for us, we think about who we were and who we are today, and we come to the key question of this Bible study: Why does God love me?

And when we talk about God’s love for human beings, we see a love so great, a love so involving and so powerful, that no matter how much we came here, we came here for a book to write, we couldn’t describe in it how great and powerful the love of God to man.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

This verse brings teachings in which it becomes possible to understand why God loves me so much. John 316 is revealing God’s heart and purpose for mankind, teaching that God’s love is immense enough to embrace all men and the world.

God ‘gives’ his only Son, as a sacrifice on the cross for the sins that were ours, and the atonement for sins proceeds from the heart of God which is rich in love. Jesus Christ was in no way obligated to make such a sacrifice, but he went to the extreme for our sakes. And it is worth noting here that at the moment Jesus is crucified He says: Luke 23:34 – Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Through the great love of God, manifested through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, we believe that He exists and that He loves us, and here believing includes three main elements.

1° The conviction that Christ is truly the Son of God, and the only savior of the lost sinner.

2° Communion with Christ through our self-submission, dedication and obedience to Him.

3° Full trust in Christ that he is capable and also wants to lead the believer to final salvation and communion with God in heaven.

And maybe you’re saying I don’t see the reason why God loves me like this! In reality here we understand that the love of God is manifested through Christ Jesus, so that man would not perish and here when we speak the word perish, we are not talking about physical death, but we are talking about the dreadful reality of eternal punishment in hell.

Matthew 10:28 – And fear not them that kill the body and cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can make soul and body perish in hell.

The word of God is saying that we must not fear the one who can kill only the body, as they cannot touch our soul, but we must fear God, because He can destroy both body and soul in hell.

The word of God teaches us that man’s existence does not end with death, but that it continues for eternity whether in the presence of God or in the place of torment. Jesus is teaching us that there is a place of eternal punishment for all those who are condemned for rejecting the plan of salvation.

We must keep in mind that God sent his only son to die for us on the cross, so that no one perishes, for God does not want man to go to hell, for whoever believes in him will not appear, but will have life eternal.

Eternal life is a gift that God gives to man when he is born again, that is, when man raises his weary hands and accepts Jesus Christ, as the only and sufficient savior of his life, and from that moment he decides to live something new.

Being born again means that if he stole he doesn’t steal anymore, if he kills he doesn’t kill anymore, if he prostitutes he doesn’t prostitute anymore, because he is now a new creature, he abandoned the old practices and sins to live a life according to the will and will of God.

As it is written in Galatians 2:20 – I am already crucified with Christ; and I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

And maybe you’ve come this far and wondered, have I failed, sinned, wrong because God loves me so much? The great reality is that God right now is not looking at the mistakes you’ve made so far, but he wants to and is very interested in what you will be like from here on.

In other words, the decision you make from this moment on to leave the old man behind and live in a new life, it is from here that God wants to deal with you. God’s love is so great that from this moment He erases all your transgressions and begins to rewrite a new story.

When we choose to forsake our sins, acknowledge our mistakes, and turn to God with humility, begging for His forgiveness and His mercy, His grace reaches out and transforms us.

God is teaching us the way to reach the kingdom of heaven, and Jesus Christ is the only way for he himself says in John 14:6 – Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.
