Bible Verse: Exodus 2:1-10 “And there was a man of the house of Levi, and he married a daughter of Levi. And the woman conceived and bare a son; and when she saw that he was beautiful, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took a chest of reeds and covered it with clay and bitumen; and putting the child in her, he laid her in the reeds on the bank of the river.”
Biblical Story Moses and the Nile: A Biblical Story for Children
A long time ago, in a far away land, there lived a man named Moses. Moses was a very special person, chosen by God to accomplish incredible things. The story we are going to tell today is about an important moment in Moses’ life, when he was just a baby.
Moses was born at a difficult time for the people of Israel. They were being treated very harshly in Egypt. The king of Egypt, called Pharaoh, was afraid that the Israelites would become a very numerous and strong people. Therefore, he ordered that all male Israelite babies be thrown into the Nile River.
Moses’ parents were very concerned about their son’s safety. They loved him deeply and didn’t want anything bad to happen to him. So they had a brave idea.
Moses was placed in a basket made of reeds and waterproofed with pitch. It was like a small boat. His mother placed him in the Nile River, trusting that God would protect him.
While the basket was sailing down the river, an Egyptian princess, daughter of Pharaoh, was bathing on the banks of the Nile. She saw the basket and sent her servants to bring it to her. When the basket was opened, baby Moses was there, crying.
The princess had compassion on the child and decided to adopt him as her son. She gave Moses the name Moses, which means “drawn from the waters.” Thus, Moses was saved from the terrible command of King Pharaoh.
This story teaches us important lessons. Moses faced many challenges in his life, but God protected and guided him. He shows us how courage, faith and compassion can make a difference, even in the most difficult situations.
