Luke 18:35-43 – A blind man saw more than the crowd
Today we will talk about an illustrious blind man! This man was sitting by the wayside begging and the bible teaches us many lessons that we can take to the present day.
The blind man from Jericho will teach us first, that the crowd that was there, saw only what their physical eyes could see. They could see physically, but they were actually spiritually blind.
On the other hand, this man who was on the side of the road, was physically blind, but he saw more than the whole crowd, because he “saw with spiritual eyes”, that is, he saw by faith that his miracle could come true.
The blind man from Jericho was sitting by the wayside, society might look at him and say. This one is just another one, this one is another helpless one, this one cannot offer any benefit.
- And it came to pass that when he came near to Jericho, there was a blind man sitting by the way, begging.
- And, hearing the crowd go by, he asked what it was.
- And they told him that Jesus of the Nazarene was passing by.
- Then he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.
- And those who were passing by rebuked him to keep silent; but he cried even more: Son of David, have mercy on me!
- Then Jesus, stopping, commanded that they be brought to him; and when he came, he asked him,
- Saying, What do you want me to do for you? And he said: Lord, that I see.
- And Jesus said to him: See; your faith saved you.
- And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, seeing this, gave praise to God.
1st Lesson: The opportunity to receive the miracle:
Luke 18:36 – And, hearing the crowd go by, he asked what it was.
One fine day he sat begging and heard something unusual. This man teaches us to take advantage of the special moment when God is present in our lives.
The Blind Man of Jericho heard something that was not normal, not common, and he sought to know what was happening.
Luke 18:37 – And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
We don’t know, but whatindicates atsomeonethat moment, he stopped and began to tell what Jesus was doing wherever he went, that someone must have said, Jesus the Nazarene is passing by, He has done healings, miracles, wonders, wonders, raised the dead, He has made the impossible happen wherever He goes.
The blind man from Jericho, knowing who Jesus was by hearing him speak, put a desire in his heart, and began to cry out to the Lord Jesus, to be able to receive his miracle.
Luke 18:38,39 – Then he cried, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.
And those who were passing by rebuked him to keep silent; but he cried even more: Son of David, have mercy on me!
The blind man in Jericho teaches us something utterly wonderful. Let’s see that some people looked at him and said, stop crying, don’t bother the master, he won’t listen, but the blind man from Jericho teaches us that he was the one who needed the miracle.
What the Word of God wants to teach us is that the ones who need the miracle are us, so when we need a miracle, it doesn’t matter what they’re saying to us, it doesn’t matter if we’re told the master won’t listen to us, keep crying, keep seeking, keep praying, and don’t let your faith fail.
The Blind Man of Jericho did not look at the speaker, but looked at the owner of the miracle.
3°The miracle in our lives is to cry out:
The blind man in Jericho begins to cry out: “Jesus son of David have mercy on me! The crowd tells him to be quiet, but he continues to cry out, “Jesus son of David have mercy on me!” Our God is the God who changes history.
Luke 18:40,41 –Then Jesus, stopping, commanded that they brought him; and when he came, he asked him, saying, What do you want me to do for you? And he said: Lord, that I see.
Jesus at the moment asks in question: “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus knew what that man’s need was, but He wanted to hear it from that man’s lips.
You also these days, want to hear your needs from your lips, that you come to express your needs, and through your prayers, express the desire of your heart. The Lord this day is asking you: “What do you want me to do for you?”
The moment Jesus asks what the man’s need was, he promptly replies: “Let me see!”
When expressing to the Lord Jesus what was his need that man who was blind, now receives his miracle and begins to see.
5 What determines the performance of your miracle is your faith
Luke 18:42,43 – And Jesus said to him: See; your faith saved you.
And immediately he saw, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, seeing this, gave praise to God.
That man could not see physically, but by faith, he knew that Jesus could heal him, and that only Jesus could change his story.
This message will show us that Jesus will say to him: “See your faith has saved you”, then this man began to see and continued to glorify God and all people seeing this gave praise to God.
When we put our faith into action, we see all of God’s miracles happening in our lives, be it healing, deliverance, transformation, renewal and so on. Every miracle will only happen in our lives, through our faith.
May we put our faith in God and believe that its impossible to happen.

May we take this word of faith to those who have not yet met God.
