In Genesis 2:4-25 God’s word tells us about the formation of the Garden of Eden.
The Bible describes the origin of the creation of heaven and earth, and with this clear description we can understand that:
- Nowild plants or grains had sprung up on the earth.
- The Lord God had not yet sent rain to water the earth.
- There was no one to cultivate it.
The word of God describes that water came out of the ground, which watered the whole earth.
Genesis 2:4-6 – These are the origins of the heavens and the earth when they were created; in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
and every plant of the field that was not yet on the earth, and every herb of the field that did not yet sprout; for the Lord God had not yet caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the earth.
But a vapor came up from the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth.
God then creates a human being, from the dust of the earth and so that this clay “doll” would have life, God then breathes into the man’s nostrils the breath of life and only from that moment on did man become a living being.
It is beautiful to observe here if the breath of God was given into the nostril of man, so that he could have life, we understand that within us there is something of God.
Genesis 2:7,8 – And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man was made a living soul.
And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden on the east side; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
The Lord God now after having created man, plants a garden, according to what the bible reports its location would be on the eastern side; and there in that garden, God then puts the man that he had created.
From that moment God made every tree that was pleasant to the sight to grow out of the ground, that is, every tree that produced fruit for food. The wealth of details is so great that it tells us that in the middle of the Garden there were two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:9-14 – And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four arms.
The name of the first is Pisom; this is what surrounds all the land of Havilah, where there is gold.
And the gold of this land is good; there is bdellium, and the sardius stone.
And the name of the second river is Gihon; this is what surrounds all the land of Cush.
And the name of the third river is Tigris; this is what goes to the eastern side of Assyria; and the fourth river is the Euphrates.
Genesis 2:15-17 – And the Lord God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and keep it.
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
And the Lord God said, It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.
The man was assigned to tend and guard the garden. and the Lord God there in the God instruction and saves man, saying that of all the trees of the Garden the man could eat freely, only of the tree of the good and the evil that the man should not eat, for if the man ate of the tree, surely he would die.
The death that the Lord God was saying was not physical death, but spiritual death, for man at the moment he started the tree, was disobeying an ordinance of God.
Romans 5:16-19 – And the gift was not so and the offense by one who sinned. For the judgment came from one offense, indeed, to condemnation, but the free gift came from many offenses to justification.
For if through the offense of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
For just as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, so also by the act of righteousness came grace upon all men unto justification of life.
For as through one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so through one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.
This Verse is very clear, because it speaks of facts that occurred there in the past, pointing to the mistake that Adam and Eve committed and showing the consequence that was generated, because through God obedience is sin entered the world, with him he saw the death, but in Jesus Christ was the remission of our sins and eternal life.
Genesis 2:15-18 – And the Lord God said, It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.
God then saw that the man was alone, and needed a companion. So God creates the woman, when God creates the woman, God is creating a being that would be there on the side of the man, helping him in his day, the woman is a being that has wisdom and intelligence.
Genesis 2:20,25 – And Adam named all the cattle, and the birds of the air, and every beast of the field; but for man she was not found to be a help meet.
Then the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place;
And from the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, he formed a woman, and brought her to Adam.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.
Therefore he will leave a man and his father and mother and will cleave to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
And both were naked, the man and his wife; and they were not ashamed.
God then causes Adam to fall asleep and cuts off one of his ribs, and from the rib that the lord takes, the woman is formed. Until that moment Adam and Eve were naked, and not ashamed, for there was no malice and no malice.
